MILWAUKIE, OREGON, 26 Sept 2026 — Consul General Henry S. Bensurto, Jr. of the Philippine Consulate General in Seattle, his spouse and several of its personnel have attended the community event organized by the Council of Filipino American Association in Oregon and Southwest Washington (CFAA) held at the Milwaukie Community Center in Milwaukie, Oregon on Saturday, 26 September 2026 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. The event was themed: KAPWA: Community Through Care and Action. Philippine Honorary Consul in Oregon, Mr. Enrico Tadeo coordinated with CFAA on the attendance of Consul General Bensurto and the Consulate General’s other personnel during the event.
The event was a call to action by CFAA directed to Filipino-Americans in Oregon and Southwest Washington to provide care for one another during times when the community needs help and assistance. CFAA leadership stated in its souvenir program that this call is most exemplified during community clinics and medical missions when the spirit of Bayanihan among the members is tapped and marshalled by the CFAA.
For his part, Consul General Bensurto spoke on the following important points which could dovetail CFAA’s theme and advocacies:
- The Philippine Consulate General in Seattle opened in July of this year and has served more that 700 applicants/clients to date. The members and participants were also invited to avail of Post’s consular services in Seattle instead of going to Vancouver PCG or in San Francisco PCG. Philippine Consulate General Seattle personnel entertained questions of participants on consular services being provided now by the Consulate.
- The Consul General expounded on his program aimed towards the new generation of Filipinos and Filipino-Americans, to remind them of the unique Filipino identity and to come together themselves through the program, Spark, Connect, Empower (SCE), which emphasized the importance of people-to-people relations among the Filipino diaspora.
- The CFAA, their members and their families were invited to reconnect with their proud heritage, history and culture by availing of and joining the upcoming Very Important Pinoy (VIP) Tour Winter Escapade 2027 edition.
- The Seattle PCG team showed videos of events of the Spark, Connect, Empower (SCE) program and the video of the VIP Tour 2027 which encapsulated the Consul General’s message through the coordination of HonCon Tadeo with the organizers.
